Who we are
Founded in January of 2001, The Children’s Treehouse Foundation is the nation’s only organization providing group-based, manualized, and internationally delivered psychosocial intervention developed specifically to support the emotional needs of children with a parent or caregiver who has cancer.
This often overlooked aspect of cancer treatment now has a program that kids, parents, and oncology professionals all rave about: the CLIMB® Program.
CLIMB® stands for Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery. The CLIMB® program helps to normalize feelings of sadness, anxiety, fear, and anger in the child. It helps to support communication of these complex feelings, increases the child’s knowledge about cancer, and facilitates communication between the parent and child. Our program provides lifelong benefits to children and parents. Not only are they learning to cope with the current stressor of having cancer in the family, but they will be able to apply these coping skills to future stressful events that they will encounter throughout their lives.
Job Summary
Online Facilitators provide CLIMB®/CLIMB.On Groups for The Children’s Treehouse Foundation as independent contractors, and on an as-needed basis. Compensated Facilitator certification training will be provided if necessary, and group facilitation services shall comply with the standards and expectations of The Children’s Treehouse Foundation. Dates of service for CLIMB®/CLIMB.On Groups will be determined and scheduled throughout the calendar year. The Online Facilitator must coordinate schedules with the Foundation in order to obtain group sessions. The Online Facilitator must conduct at least two CLIMB®/CLIMB.On Groups per calendar year.
Compensation
$300.00 per CLIMB®/CLIMB.On Group facilitated
CLIMB® Group Description of Work
Review registration of families and pre-assessment interviews with program coordinator.
Contact participants with any needed information about groups, including reminders for sessions, etc.
Conduct the six weekly sessions for either the Children’s, Teen’s, or Parents’ Group, or some combination of the three. Facilitators may anticipate up to 30 minutes of prep time per group each week.
Conduct facilitation in an online format for participants in the Group using the features available in the software, as indicated by The Children’s Treehouse Foundation.
Provide services as an independent contractor using individual sound professional judgment in cases that require it, and to refer families and individuals who need counseling or intervention to the appropriate community resources.
Engage in weekly communication with co-facilitators as necessary.
Engage in 1 hour debrief with The Children’s Treehouse Foundation at the end of the Group, or as needed/scheduled.
Protect the confidentiality of patient information as required by state or federal law or regulation or by applicable contract.
Responsible for issuing completion certificates, gathering and recording evaluations, and other follow-up activities
Submit facilitator feedback form(s) after each group
Submit invoice documentation to Executive Director for pay
Data tracking of group participants and evaluation data. Maintain records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in social work, child life, nursing, pediatric oncology, or related field. Professional license preferred.
Oncology work experience
Experience working with children and families
Strong interpersonal relationship skills
Proficient in computer and software applications needed for online programs
Preferred Requirements
Work experience in a hospital setting
Nonprofit experience
Experience running programs/support groups
