We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) to join our team at Big Cedar Counseling Services. This full-time, remote position focuses on providing essential psychosocial support and intervention for patients in a hospice center setting. As an LICSW, you will play a vital role in assisting patients and their families as they navigate the complex emotional and practical challenges associated with advanced illness, hospitalization, and end-of-life care.

Work Environment
This remote position allows you to work from home while providing essential services to patients and families throughout our hospice center. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses, and support staff dedicated to improving patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities
As an LICSW at Big Cedar Counseling Services, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments of patients and their families to uncover emotional, social, and environmental factors impacting their health and wellbeing.
- Developing tailored treatment plans that incorporate individualized social work interventions, promoting resilience and coping strategies to aid in healing.
- Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure seamless integration of psychosocial care into the overall treatment plan involving the patient and their family at every step.
- Facilitating discharge planning, which includes networking with third-party payers and clinical staff to create an effective transition plan that addresses ongoing support needs.
- Delivering education and counseling to patients and families about coping with illness, lifestyle adjustments, and end-of-life considerations.
- Administering a variety of therapeutic modalities, including crisis intervention, short-term individual therapy, as well as group and family counseling as appropriate.
- Serving as a clinical resource for fellow staff members, sharing knowledge of psychosocial issues and treatment strategies that enhance the care provided in our hospice center.
- Presenting expert knowledge at educational conferences, specifically in the field of psychosocial oncology, and leading workshops that empower colleagues and enrich community support resources.
- Engaging in community outreach to strengthen local programs and initiatives that support cancer patients and survivors.
- Being part of an on-call rotation, facilitating after-hours support for urgent psychosocial concerns that arise within our patient population.
- If needed, conducting involuntary evaluations in compliance with Washington State's Baker Act and coordinating appropriate transfers to receiving facilities.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Your primary focus will be working with patients in a hospice setting, primarily addressing the complex emotional and psychological needs that arise during end-stage illnesses. You will provide critical support to not only the patients but also their families, helping them navigate difficult conversations and emotional distress commonly associated with serious health challenges.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field from an accredited institution (LICSW certification is required).
- Proven experience in clinical social work, preferably within a health care or hospice setting.
- Strong understanding of psychosocial concepts related to terminal illness and supportive end-of-life care.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a capacity for empathetic listening and engagement.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and telehealth platforms, ensuring efficient documentation and service delivery.
Preferred Experience
While not mandatory, the following experience would be advantageous:
- Prior experience in hospice care, palliative care, or oncology social work.
- Experience presenting at professional workshops or educational settings.
- Familiarity with community resources for cancer survivors and their families.
Compensation and Benefits
