Big Cedar Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) for a full-time role within our Hospice Center, located in Everett, Washington. This remote position allows for a flexible work environment while providing critical support to patients and their families during challenging times. Work Environment
This position is entirely remote, offering flexibility while being part of a multidisciplinary care team in the Hospice Center. The LICSW will engage primarily in virtual consultations and therapy sessions, utilizing telehealth platforms to reach patients and families effectively. This work environment encourages a balance of autonomy and teamwork, with regular opportunities for consultation with healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed psychosocial assessments of patients and their families to evaluate emotional, social, and environmental factors affecting their care and quality of life.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team, ensuring alignment with patients' needs and clinical goals.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and families addressing adjustment to illness, treatment options, and the psychosocial implications of serious health conditions.
- Facilitate discharge planning by coordinating with physicians, third-party payers, and other specialists to ensure a smooth transition from the care facility to home or other service settings.
- Deliver crisis intervention when required, using evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including brief and long-term individual and group therapies.
- Engage in ongoing clinical evaluation of oncology patients, assessing their mental health needs, such as depression or anxiety, and provide appropriate short-term counseling services.
- Participate in on-call rotations to offer support for after-hours inquiries and emergencies, responding promptly to urgent patient needs.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to junior social workers and interns, sharing knowledge and best practices in psychosocial oncology.
- Contribute to community outreach efforts, educating the public, healthcare professionals, and caregivers about available resources and services for cancer survivors.
- Present at educational conferences and workshops, establishing oneself as an expert in psychosocial oncology practice.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The LICSW will predominantly work with patients facing life-threatening illnesses, including cancer and other chronic conditions. The focus is on providing emotional support, advocacy, and counseling to help both the patients and their families navigate the complexities associated with serious health challenges and end-of-life considerations. This role requires sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and an understanding of how cultural factors impact patients' responses to illness and care.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution
- Valid and unrestricted license as an Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Washington state
- Experience in healthcare or hospice settings is highly desirable
- Strong clinical assessment, intervention, and advocacy skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Proven ability to manage a diverse caseload and work independently
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience working with oncology patients or in palliative care
- Familiarity with telehealth services and virtual care platforms
- Knowledge of community resources and support networks for cancer patients and survivors
- Experience delivering training and presentations on psychosocial topics to health professionals
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is between USD 70,000 – 100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
